What made you interested in Actuarial Science?

At the end of junior year, I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I knew I had an interest in both math and business. I researched careers and after understanding what actuaries do, I knew that it was the career for me. I love to learn, and I feel that actuaries are unique because you have to be constantly learning new things and developing new skills.

What is your favorite class and why?

My favorite class is Finance 490 which is Axis Risk Management Academy. I have learned so much the past 2 semesters about other peoples’ experiences in the industry and it has helped me to gain insight into what I want my future career to look like.

What are some activities you enjoy outside of ASC?

Some of my interests outside of ASC include learning foreign languages (I am currently learning French and Spanish), drawing, and music (I was very involved in musical theater back home and I play the trumpet).

Who has influenced you most in life?

My mom is the most influential person in my life. She’s a teacher, so I feel that she is the reason why I love to learn so much and she’s always been genuinely supportive of me.

Favorite place to eat on campus?

My favorite place to eat or get tea on campus is Caffe Paradiso.

Go-To snack?

I like fresh fruit, and my favorites are bananas, peaches, and strawberries.

Favorite Movie/Book?

My favorite book is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald because I love the color symbolism and history of the 1920s.

If you could be a vegetable/fruit, what would you be and why?

I would be a banana because bananas share an alarming amount of DNA with humans.

What are some of your future goals that you hope to achieve in life?

I want to travel and continue making art, I want to be a leader wherever I work, and maintain a good work/life balance while always developing new personal and professional skills.
