Recruitment Timeline

  1. Exec Info Session: last week of February (mandatory attendance if interested in applying for Exec Board)

  2. Applications Due: first week of March

  1. Interview invitations extended: first week of March

  2. Interviews: second week of March

  3. Offers extended: last week of March

  4. Assume new positions: Fall of following school year




Positions and Duties

President

  • Oversees all club planning, events, and meetings. Help set club goals and make sure they are achieved throughout the year

  • Provide information about and represent the club to interested parties at external events (Kickoff Meeting, Majors & Minors Fair, Quad Day, etc)

  • Run weekly board meetings: oversees that the agenda is complete before meetings and help maintain constructive conversations

  • Oversees other positions and committees

  • Occasionally meet with the program director and advisors to ensure communication between the program and club

  • Recruit next year’s Executive Board

Vice President-External

  • Directly oversees Meet the Firms Chair, Company Presentations Chair, and Outreach Chair

  • Organize Kickoff Meetings with the President and VPI

  • Coordinate with department advisors on contact with companies and recruiting efforts

  • Solicit donations from companies

  • Seek out new company contacts or other contacts who can aid our program

  • Act as liaison between ASC and companiesβ€” answer emails, respond to phone calls, etc

  • Recruit next year’s Executive Board

Vice president-Internal

  • Directly oversee Social Chair, Publicity Chair, Treasurer, International Chair, and Workshops Chair

  • Organize Kickoff Meetings with the President and VPE

  • Communicate with Actuarial Science advisors and professors

  • Communicate with club members via social media, email, etc

  • Aid in planning and marketing the annual Spring Symposium

  • Recruit next year’s Executive Board

Meet the firms chair

  • Organize Meet the Firms

  • Accommodate company representatives and respond to their emails and phone calls regarding MTF

  • Organize Actuarial Science On-Campus Recruiting

  • Communicate with the Career Center regarding MTF and recruiting events

Outreach Chair

  • Organize Fall and Spring field trip to visit companies

  • Plan and run Spring Banquet with the help of a committee (Spring)

  • Plan underclassmen outreach activities and presentation (e.g. New Student BBQ w/ Social Chair)

  • Organize and expand the Alumni Mentorship Program and Actuarial Connections Program

Compny Presentations Chair

  • Organize Fall and Spring company presentations

  • Attend the vast majority, if not all, presentations

  • Accommodate the representatives and assist with ordering food and utensils if needed

  • Organize the spring alumni panel event

  • Solicit feedback from companies and students to improve future company presentations.

Publicity Chair

  • Maintain and update the website regularly

  • Manage club’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc)

  • Create an attractive and organized format for our weekly newsletter

  • Manage a committee to aid the development of the club’s website and Alumni Newsletter

  • Aid with event marketing, including the Spring Symposium

  • Additional requirement: Knowledge of maintaining aa website and using third-party website tools such as Squarespace

Social Chair

  • Plan all social events including apartment and bar crawls

  • Collaborate with other business organizations for social events (i.e. PBL, Accounting Club, etc

  • Assist the Outreach Chair in planning events such as the New Student BQ and the Spring Banquet

  • Act as the club photographer to document events

Treasurer/Secretary

  • Prepare a budget report before each semester

  • Keep detailed record of all club expenditures

  • Reimburse officers for club-related expenses

  • Maintain RSO and outside bank accounts

  • Maintain club attendance, including MTF incentive sheet

  • Create and post weekly meeting agendas for the board meetings

Workshops Chair

  • Coordinate professional workshops: recruitment workshops, exam workshops and panels, diversity and inclusion workshops or panels, fireside chats and more as needed

  • Plan webinars to keep the student body updated on emerging industry trends

  • Accommodate external speakers who want to deliver seminars and marketing those events

  • Manage a committee that will aid in the planning and execution of workshops and the webinar series

International Chair

  • Coordinate international student-oriented workshops and tutorials (e.g. Visa Workshop, Actuarial Intern Panel)

  • Compose weekly newsletters in WeChat group chat

  • Assist international students in navigating the recruitment process

  • Foster connections between ASC and international alumni

  • Help host the webinar series

  • Strengthen the international community through the networking programs

Recruitment Chair

  • Lead the ASRM 101 class and provide an inclusive space for freshmen

  • Initiate conversations with the department and office of student admissions for high school outreach

  • Help develop a stronger community for our incoming freshmen and current freshmen
